Formed in 1974. So it is even sadder they are all gone.

Saw them about 20 times, blew a knee out at one show, have guitar picks and met them backstage in 88.

The great Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher died in 1995, bass player Eric Kitteringham died in 2013, and drummer Norman Damery died in 1968. Jimi Hendrix once said that Rory Gallagher was the best rock guitarist in the world. Although the tune below appeared on their 1970 album I saw them play this live on French television in late 1968 or early 69, in front of stacks of Marshall amplifiers.

Regarding the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the original members are all dead but Billy Cox is still alive I believe. Technically Cox was the bass player for the Band Of Gypsies but when that broke up and Jimi went back to touring with the Experience, Cox remained. When I saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience live in Berkeley in May 1970, Billy Cox was playing bass and the sublimely great Mitch Mitchell was on drums.
