My niece got married today. During the wedding, someone stole her money out of her purse.

How LOW do you have to be to do that, to be one of the guests at a wedding and steal all of the money out of the bride's purse?

I was there taking photos...everyone was so happy, and the day ended with this.

happened to a friend of mine, only it was Grandma's birthday. $90 was stolen.

It happened again.

Then, a few years later, when the family thief was in another country, Grandma got a kidnapping call. Someone tried to hoax her out of $2000 to "save" her grandson.

Grandma thought $2 grand was a steal, so she didn't bite.

So if this experience is any indicator, you might look forward to similar such incidents in the future.

3. I'm hoping it's a "friend of a friend" she'll never see again

I don;t know how strict the "invitation only" thing was...my guess is that people were invited but I know people also just showed up. So here's hoping they took the money and ran and that's the end of it.

2. What about staff at the place the wedding was held?

It didn't have to be a guest, necessarily. Or, perhaps there's a junkie/gambling addict in one of the families and they stole the cash. It happens even in the nicest families.

5. This is a somewhat informal facility

More of a "building that used to be something else that is now available for functions"...there wasn't really a staff, just friends who pitched in and helped. The owner of the building was one of the invited guests, as well as several people who work with him, but that was it.
