As 'redneck' as they come across they are also very supportive of marriage equality and LGBT-rights. There is a brother on the show (Honey Boo-Boo calls him 'Uncle Poodle') who is gay and I think because of him they are very supportive of the cause.

I still won't watch the show but they aren't as bad as it seems.

Plus the mother is the Anti-Kate Gosselin. Instead of using her new found wealth to buy fancy houses, extreme makeover and other useless junk like Kate Gosselin of 'Jon and Kate plus 8' fame had done, the mother from the Honey Boo-Boo show saves her money and keeps the kids pretty much living the same way as always.
