So how's your day going?

Locked myself out of the house this a.m. while trying to leave for an appointment. Keys weren't in my purse where I usually put them. My OCD tendencies that usually make me tripple check things like that decided to take the day off. So I go to get the spare key hidden for emergencies, not where it's supposed to be either. So I start to hunt for it but it's kind of dark and I think longingly of the flashlights locked in the house and car. Then it dawns on me that I can use the backlight on my cellphone(no flashlight app) as a light source. I felt like MacGyver! Found the spare, went in got the regular house key and car key and was on my way. Was only a minute late for the appointment and I wouldn't have even been that, if there wasn't a flag man holding up traffic when there wasn't even any construction equipment or workers in the road. He kept facing the drive way to the county complex and making the come ahead signal but there was no one coming out. The construction trucks were way down at the other end of the property and not anywhere near the driveway, no one was, but he had the stop flag out for me and the driver coming the other way.

So I learned a few lessons this morning. I must normally leave way to early for my appointments, problem solve before panicking, OCD has a useful side, and doctors aren't the only ones who can get God complexes. Now don't get me wrong I love DPW workers, my dad was a head mechanic for our local city DPW but I think flag dude was just enjoying making people sit and wait because he could. Why else motion to an empty driveway?

...when you have to make 4 separate shopping lists you're guaranteed not to forget a damned thing. People laugh at my lists of lists that I make for vacations, until they ask if I brought something they forgot. I might always arrive 20 minutes early for everything, but I'm more prepared than someone who arrives 20 minutes late.

The key thing is a mystery. I will walk out of the house and double (triple) check everything...and forget my keys. I blame the cats. They distract me as I'm leaving just to get that one last "good-bye". Their cuteness is a trick to make me feel like an idiot and doubt my ability to care for myself. It freakin' works, too.

My sister swears by them too. I am much more likely to get my house work done if I set tasks for myself and write them on a list. I then check them off as I complete them. Otherwise I wander around from one task to another never finishing anything.

That's true about cats' cuteness being a distraction. The feral colony here didn't make me forget to check for my main set of keys but I am pretty sure it was one of them who knocked the spare key out of its hiding place.

Every effing day I've had off from work, the weather has been horrible. Finally, today was to break the trend with clear, sunny warm predicted for the next several days running.

I've been fighting a cold, so tried to let myself sleep in a bit this morning. Got up at 7:30 am, fed dogs, took care of pony and birds and prepped for the tree guy to come take down the dying maple. At 9:20, when he still hadn't arrived, I checked my phone and found a txt from him. Postponed to tomorrow. I was ready mentally for today, so was a bit bummed.

Then I cleaned up inside a bit, and then headed out and mowed the front lawn. Then cleaned up so more inside and then sat down for a quick lunch. I was going to take the dogs to the pond, but decided it was a bit too cool with my cold, so decided to treat myself to a nap in the sun.

Brought the birds outside to enjoy the sun too, and did a few more indoor chores and then brought my chair outside.

15 minutes later, it clouded up. It was supposed to be sunny all day. Instead, cold and cloudy.

So I came back inside and put myself down for a rest and to warm up. Was reading through GD where there was a post about an animal rescue in the Ukraine. I decided to give a small donation to an international rescue based in Massachusetts. My credit card was declined. An hour later got a call from my credit card company about a declined charge for 4X my donation from an org in the midwest. So my credit card is now locked and a new one en route.

Which kind of ruined my plans for this evening to pick up another 6 week supply of dog food, plus some other needed items. Instead I'll get small supplies at food store, where I can pay with a check.

And I didn't get a single other chore done after the clouds came out. Instead sitting here feeling sad, depressed and lonely. Oh, and now that it's 5 pm, the sky has cleared back up but here in the north country, the sun is very low so not warming.

So I feel guilty and sad. I can't seem to do a single happy or nice thing for myself...this has been a trend for months now. Plus my work schedule starting next Monday is hell for weeks.

and the weather improves. Both really can do a number on your mood especially if your dealing with clinical depression already. I hope the situation with your credit card gets sorted out too. That's awful that people take advantage of someone who is just trying to do something helpful.

You're a good person with a big heart. I'm sending you a hug across the miles and healing thoughts!

I've been fighting a bug, which hasn't helped. I woke up in the middle of the night, and again too early, so was afraid it would another day of feeling ill. But instead, fell back to a deep sleep and had multiple kind of wierd dreams and woke up feeling much healthier and stronger.

The tree-guy showed up. It's probably best they didn't come yesterday. As it is, the big truck made about 1/4" depressions in the soil, so it would probably have done some damage yesterday. He's a sweetheart and a wonderful democrat up from the south, and just spent about an hour socializing with me while his crew got going on the tree. He cuts me a break on all the work because he can see I'm struggling. He has a 1% plus the DOT as clients, so is able to charge the rest of us at cost plus a small fee for him.

He mentioned how all my animals look just great. He also mentioned we might get a frost tonight, which I wasn't aware of so now I know to cover my tomatoes and eggplants.

Apparently some neighbors honey bees are visiting my place, along with my usual bumble bees. He pointed out 2 Russian bees and 1 Italian.

Some times I just try to hard and expect too much from myself. I need to learn to cut myself a break.

PLEASE tell me it is Friday.

State van I drove had to be towed due to brake problems. So had to take my car which is intermittently showing a engine check light. So not so bad versus Tuesday afternoon driving home and realizing your brakes are slowly failing.

I found 7 dollars that I didn't know I had
Got yelled at by a crazy lady on the train
Boss at my full-time job brought in free bagels
Lunch tasted horrible so I threw it out
Got a email from my weekend job telling me that they won't need me anymore so I have to find another part time/weekend job.
Spilled a cup of hot chocolate on myself

Overall not a great day. Yesterday was better but hey free bagels are always good. Tomorrow is another day.

i only worked three days this week, but those days kicked my ass. now it's a and a bit of on the porch while i enjoy this lovely 57-degree evening and cruise youtube. we head to denver early friday afternoon, so tomorrow will be filled with cleaning, laundry and running errands before i cook dinner for the neighbor who's going to watch the cats while we're gone.

and every minute gets me closer to riot fest and the cure. it's been six years since i last saw them and i am so excited that i can barely stand it. it's been a few years since the husband and i have gone away overnight and even longer since we've gone to a show, but it's our five-year wedding anniversary next week and we're going all out.

i am super ocd about having my keys before i leave the house. i keep my keys on a carbiner hooked to my purse, but i have two sets that i keep on there. one has the flashlight and my work keys (four of the damn things), mail key and dad's house key. the other set is my house and car key and that set of keys doesn't always make it back to the carabiner at night, so and i make sure i have them in my hand before i walk out the door.

i've locked myself out of the house a few times and had to get, uh, creative to get back in. i locked myself out of my dad's once and had to get the ladder from the garage and climb in through an upstairs window because all the basement were locked. bonus points for having to do it in a skirt. then there was the time my boyfriend and i walked down to the bar and came home drunk as shit only to realize neither of us had our keys. all the windows are locked and it's after 2 am. while i'm trying to figure out how the fuck we're going to afford a locksmith, he just kicks the door in. we pounded everything back into place and patched the crack in the wall and i didn't lose a dime of my security deposit because of it. that place was a shit hole anyway and i didn't care.

I felt lucky it was in the day and not in the middle of winter. All I could think though when I couldn't find the spare was how humiliating it was going to be to have to call my sister, and tell her she would have to leave work to let me in my own house. I also wondered where the heck to await her arrival. I'm thankful it didn't come to that. One of my cousins works very close to where I live, I'm going to have to get him a key. That or teach Marnie how to unlock the door with her teeth. LOL

Have fun on your trip. It sounds great!

Today is better than yesterday maybe:
I was going grocery shopping when the phone rang ...
"We need you (93 miles north of my home) to escort a load 13 miles. You need to be there in two hours. Can you do that? Do you want the job?"
My answer: "Hell yes I want the job. Where is the highway spot, nearest town?"
Of course I was sitting here in my jammies, sipping coffee. [img][/img]
Now, about today, do I shop or not?

How is your day today?

is always an enjoyable choice except if your broke or the stores are too crowded.

Today's better. Nothing important on the agenda, except spending time with the pup! It's going down to 38 degrees tonight so I am planning my first cup of hot chocolate for the season and settling in with a good book.
