Ambient/electronica artist Loscil live. guitars? keyboards? nope. a laptop! and knobs.

and a finger touch pad type of thing.

You would have to know what to expect to attend this sort of concert! The sounds he makes are remarkable.

Nice listen for a late night!

Agree - much more for listening but it was a fascinating watch - I had no idea. NRaleighLiberal Nov 2014 #2

I do occasionally like this type of sound, I hesitate to call it music. Faded in and out, preprogrammed sounds, not really having a melody and the only rhythm being computer generated. I'd give it a 70 - you can listen to it, but you can't dance to it.

What I love about the arts is the lack of "rules" - it is about personal interpretation. I love ambient and this is one of my favorite types of music - for certain moods, though. I guess dancing has never been an important parameter for me - always been more into jazz, classical, and fringe alternative, ambient, etc.

Though I do love The National, Arcade Fire, Cocteau Twins - really weirdly eclectic tastes...guilty as charged!

to do this stuff completely live without any real preprogramming. The rhythms do not have to be computer generated at all. Quite a lot of music exists without any defined melody.

I have been doing this kind of stuff in my living room for a decade or more.
Music is what music is, not really just in the ears of the beholder.
