(20,365 posts)I think was a special round where they give out one letter.

(26,117 posts)I don't know why it just popped into my head when I looked at the letters.

(3,655 posts)I don't usually watch that idiot Sajak but caught this one. The guy solved several like that and his opponents couldn't even hit a dollar amount to guess a letter. I think he pretty much shut them out in every round.

(102,352 posts)Of course I'd have likely "frozen" on tv... but (and no, I neither googled nor watched the show)
I am assuming it is:
The Lone Ranger

(8,028 posts)I thought that all instances of a letter were to be turned. I wonder what's up with that, in this particular case.? Do you know if the rules have changed?...

(102,352 posts)four letter word ending in e--> lone? then first word could easily be THE, then does Ranger have six letters? yes. Solved.
I am a very visual person when it comes to spelling and that helps a lot (thankfully never learned the ubiquitous "phonetic" method).
Oh and the fact the guy seemed old enough to have at least "heard" of THE LONE RANGER, even if only the movie remake..

(51,311 posts)of that letter are uncovered. Thus, TWO MORE "E'S" OUGHT TO BE SHOWING RIGHT NOW.
I can figure out a simple code, too, knowing that a 3-letter word is likely to be "the."
THIS PARTICULAR GAME WAS AN ANOMALY FOR THE SHOW.

(102,352 posts)The question was, could I solve it and yes, indeed, I could, readily. I'm sure others could too. Like I said, those who learned to spell by visual means and by extensive reading, rather than that phonetic approach, have a much easier time of it. You asked me how I solved it and I told you. No need to get annoyed at me for it. I'm not trying to insult you, but merely to answer your question. It seems some here are taking this far too seriously/personally....

(25,704 posts)BURBANK, CADesperate for new phrases, Sony Pictures' Wheel Of Fortune received special permission from the FCC Monday to use word puzzles containing objectionable language. "Twenty-three years of daily broadcasts have depleted us of every last familiar, non-offensive phrase," Wheel Of Fortune producer Robert Reynolds said. "I mean, last night we were doing puzzles like 'Pyrrhic Victory' and 'More To Be Pitied Than Censured,' and nobody could guess them." Beginning next week, the program will feature such phrases as "Balls To The Wall," "Dick-Slapped," "Titty Fuck," "On The Rag," "Greasy Wop" and "Fucked Eight Ways From Sunday." The popular show will also introduce such profanity-laced "Before & After" puzzles
