(1,136 posts)Recent Seahawk fan here, when Russell joined the team. He went to high school about a mile from my house so we've followed him since then. So excited!!

(11,833 posts)The Seahawks are fun to watch. Raw speed & athleticism. Plus I love their glow in the dark uniforms.

(7,570 posts)That was some ensemble football tonight. Everyone was just freaking amazing. It was like a Seahawks highlight reel.
Have to give Carolina credit, though, for hanging in there like they did.

(41,960 posts)I never did get genuinely disparaging another team (as opposed to innocent ranking). What's the honor in beating a bad team?
Frank Cannon
(7,570 posts)And the Hawks needed somewhat of a challenge to stay at the level they're going to need to be at for Green Bay/Dallas next week.
So here's to you, Panther fans. Better luck next year.

(29,655 posts)and that's if they win against the cowpies. So....... let's just let the game play out, and possibly, the Packers will win, and travel on. *gulp* GO PACK GO.

(1,043 posts)Just think you can go over to Alki Point,Get fish and chips at Spuds and feed the seagulls. What could be more fun? Maybe the tide will go out over there on the point and you will find out why we call it "Pungent Sound".

(29,655 posts)So we'll just see, GO PACK GO. and they do have to get by the cowpies so...... I'm not going to say a word about what happens after tomorrow at noon CST. :

(50,557 posts)Last April I went to Alki Point to photograph the lighthouse; Spuds was there and I figured I'd have lunch there...oh man, they need about twelve branches.

(58,648 posts)And congrats to Carolina. They played a heluva game, but our Hawks were on tonight and not to be denied.
The good thing (for the Seahawks, anyway) is that neither GB nor Dallas have as good of a defense as the Panthers this year. And, we're 8-0 at home in the playoffs in the Pete Carroll era.

(10,642 posts)If the Cowboys end up coming here next weekend, are they going to bring Chris Christie with them?
Ugh!
Half-Century Man
(5,279 posts)According to the press. both Scott Walker and Chris Christie will be at Lambeau Field. Two extremely bad choices for President at the same place at the same time, the bully and the buffoon rooting for opposing teams.

(22,298 posts)that was an awkward Sunday on FB last year.... If that's the match up this year, I will ask her if Denver plans to show up this time.
Great game! Love the Hawks! They're so much fun to root for---the players, the fans, the whole city just gets into it...Like San Antonio does the Spurs. (GSG)
mythology
(9,527 posts)Many of their star players have been busted for performance enhancing drugs, Richard Sherman is a loud-mouth braggart who isn't nearly as good as he thinks he is (which is why he had to take performance enhancing drugs), their coach blatantly cheated when he was coaching in college and their star running back is a classless buffoon both on the field and when talking to the media.
There is nothing about the team I find redeemable.
Sadly there are relatively few teams in sports that I find represent what sports should. Honest competition, being decent people who don't feel the need to insult or belittle everybody else. Fortunately there are the Packers and the Colts left in the playoffs. Both teams are by in large what I look for. Yes the Colts have Robert Mathis, but he hasn't played all season.

(7,570 posts)And if you're looking to back a professional sports team that hasn't dabbled in performance-enhancing drugs...well, good luck with that. There might be a Norwegian Fly Fishing team you could get behind.

(15,571 posts)or the nearby 'burbs as I do. The great Dizzy Dean once said 'it ain't braggin' if you can do it' and the star running back is anything but a classless buffoon. Not all ball players can be glib and charming to a face full of microphones.

(26,109 posts)but I owe you a huge thank you for posting that Preservation Hall Jazz Band w/ Tom Waits - "Tootie Ma Is A Big Fine Thing" video!!!!
Been exploring the PHJB music ever since, passing videos on to nephews who desperately need good music. And of course gaining ear worms I can't and don't want to shake. Thank You, nolabear!

(41,960 posts)I jokingly told my son, who's getting married this summer, that I wanted his kids to call me Tootie Ma instead of Grandma and he thought I'd lost my mind. But you know the more I think about it the more I like it!
You might look at New Orleans street musicians on YouTube too. There is some just outstanding talent busking those streets. I'm always impressed.
Oh, and they just released the Jazzfest lineup. O.M.G.
