It's learned that Fox is considering bringing back X-Files with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
The good news comes from Fox Television Group chairman Gary Newman who confirmed talks are underway at the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Its been reported, and its true, that weve had some conversations about [reviving] X-Files [ideally with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson]," Newman said, reports TV Line. But I have nothing that we can announce at this time.
X-Files ran for 9 seasons with 202 episodes and two movies, which kicked off back in 1993.

(4,858 posts)...sorry, couldn't resist...but I do wonder what they'll do for their long-term plotlines that can top the original one...

And at the end they drove off, so that's sequal material right there

(12,618 posts)I had been trying to get my mom to give the X-Files a try for YEARS. She had seen brief moments of it while I was watching it, but said it was, "too dark, too gruesome," for her. I countered that it was an extremely well-written show that dealth with topics she might find interesting (she was really into new-agey stuff and spiritualism at the time).
So one night, she finally agreed to give it a try, saying that a bunch of her new age friends watched it and loved it so she'd check it out. Well, guess what episode it was? Yup. "Home." The infamous incestuous mutants. The only episode of the X-Files that was ever banned for a short time after its initial airing.
Suffice it to say, she never watched The X-Files again. LMFAO.

Later..the Genie winds up getting what SHE wants...
Naw...they'd never go for that.

(35,015 posts)There was something cutting edge about the X-Files when it aired, now there's so many in the 'supernatural' vein. But I'm thinking now that thousands of pages of the government's own x-files have been released, there's material for them. It could be either really good or horrid.

(26,117 posts)but it would have to be really good for me to stick around. And I second the post above that mentioned the Lone Gunmen.

(12,618 posts)Uh, wonder how they're going to spin that.
Wait a minute, I know! Mitt Romney is actually an alien, and when Obama defeated him it forced them to change their plans!

(63,208 posts)Four things they absolutely need to avoid:
1. Scully's cancer arc
2. Scully's child arc
3. Mulder's sister arc
4. The whole stupid alien conspiracy arc
The series was much stronger when it was a series of one-shot episodes than when Carter tried to craft a compelling narrative over three or four or fifty episodes.
Stick with the monster-of-the-week format, and it has a chance. Otherwise it's guaranteed to be a disaster.

(21,046 posts)I thought they should have done more of that kind of suburban environment thing.
And David Duchovny was quite handsome (and smart) back in the day. Still not bad.
