Birdman

Maybe it is the actor in me, did some in High School, but this was one hell of a movie.

I think people who have been in that arena will get it more, maybe, but it is so well done, so out there but "in your face" at the same time that anyone could enjoy it.

been seeing all along and was he not out the window.

Many layers to this movie, and it is an amazing movie in so many ways.

In my industry (advertising) we are young stars for a few decades until being "aged" out around 45-50, then many of us have to fend for ourselves through freelancing, starting our own businesses, or finding new careers. I saw a little of Riggan Thomson in myself at one time -- maybe not as crazy, but certainly in the same of boat. Anxious, frustrated, uncertain, and at times, questioning my very relevance.

Accompanying this great story is great execution -- acting, directing and cinematography. It deserved the Oscar.

SPOILERS

And that obscure ending -- does Thomson really kill himself? If he does, what makes Sam so in awe over his death?

Or is Thomson really "Birdman?"

So then she looks out the window ... first down ... then up.

Interesting ending.

Well-deserved Best Picture, Director and Screenplay.

I did think that Michael Keaton deserved to win Best Actor. He would have gotten my vote.

I thought Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing.

I could not stand The Theory of Everything. I thought Eddie Redmayne was doing an impression, and I thought his performance was quite annoying, although it seems like I am one of the few who feels that way.

I saw every Best Actor nominee, and a few deserving that weren't nominated, and I would have given my vote to Keaton.

A metaphor. Several times in the film I think (I was loosing interest so I didn't pay that much attention) he was flying. I don't think he committed suicide. Also, shouldn't there be a time limit so people don't have to say spoilers at some point? I went to a game night party last weekend and we were talking about Breaking Bad and the host said, "don't say anything, I haven't seen it yet!" It's been over for almost two frickin' years!!!

but the person who doesn't want to get "spoiled" is ultimately responsible, imo.

Example: If a title of a thread says "Birdman" and that person has not seen it, then they shouldn't open a thread that says "Birdman". Said thread may not be about the movie, but they need to take responsibility for threads they click on.

And, for some things, they need to just stay off social media.

Like the Oscars a few weeks ago. Big, live events like that usually have "running" commentary throughout the evening. If one doesn't want to be spoiled, then I suggest they stay off social media until the event is over because people are going to be talking about it.

a T.V. show has been over for 1 1/2 years, it seems unreasonable that someone should expect that others not talk about it.
