Daily Holidays - March 9

National Meatball Day It is National Meatball Day.

It is not clear how this day got started, but who could resist the idea of celebrating National Meatball Day? There are many different ways to celebrate meatballs today: Spaghetti and meatballs – Swedish Meatballs – Meatball Sub. – Meatball Pizza – Turkey Meatballs – Lamb Meatballs – Porcupine Meatballs (made with rice) – and the list goes on and on.

There is a restaurant in New York that has 54 different kinds of meatballs.

Today to celebrate, some restaurants are giving a free side order of meatballs, while others are donating money to homeless shelters from the meatball orders. Cook yourself up your favorite meatballs today or go out and order some from a menu near you!

NATIONAL MEATBALL DAY HISTORY

Our research was unable to find the creator or the origin of National Meatball Day, an “unofficial” national holiday. http://nationaldaycalendar.com/2014/03/09/march-9-2014-national-barbie-day-national-meatball-day-national-crabmeat-day-national-get-over-it-day/

Fill Our Staplers Day Is there anything more annoying in this world than going to use a stapler, only to find it has run out of staples? Yes, yes there is. A huge number of things. However, that does not detract from the fact that it can be extremely annoying, especially if you are at work, under time pressure, and have no idea where the spare staples are held.

Originally created by the Dull Men’s Club, Fill Our Staplers Day attempts to solve this super-serious problem. Occurring twice a year, on the day after the Sunday when the clocks change, the day encourages people, especially office workers, to refill their stapler, with a view to minimising the chances of a workplace crisis.

So if you work in an environment where staplers are shared with others, do your bit for humanity and use this day to ensure it is well stocked for future use. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/fill-our-staplers-day/

Get Over It Day One of the most interesting holidays to be found is known simply as “Get Over it Day“. This celebration was invented in 2005 when a man was having a rather difficult time overcoming the loss of his girlfriend. In essence, this day is meant to help people get over their troubles and tribulations while doing so in humurous ways. It is also considered a day to remember that others in the world will certainly have it worse than us, so Get Over it Day is also a day to feel a bit humble.

Another coincidence (or perhaps not) is that this holiday falls directly between Valentine’s Day and April Fool’s Day. So, mixing a bit of partying and romance is certainly not out of the question. While this is still a rather young holiday in comparison with others, Get Over it Day is undoubtedly one of the more appropriate days to sit back, relax and decompress during these modern and hectic times. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/get-over-it-day/

Napping Day Napping Day provides an opportunity to adjust after changes to daylight savings when losing an hour of sleep due to ‘springing forward’. Mid-afternoon naps are an integral part of most cultures, and scientifically proven to be good for you – so here’s to justifying a few hours of well deserved kip! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/napping-day/

Panic Day It was Rudyard Kipling who penned the immortal lines: ‘If you can keep your head, while all around are losing theirs… you’ve probably forgotten it’s Panic Day’.

Imagine a whole day devoted to what most of us do every morning, at least Monday to Friday. With deadlines looming, alarm clocks failing and traffic jamming, panic comes naturally, yet we’re expected to quell our natural urges, take a deep breath and carry on regardless. No more!

Panic Day is the day to let rip and succumb to the terror, giving free reign to this much suppressed emotion. Flap your arms and scream, run around in circles, if it helps, or just stay in bed quivering with your head under the pillow.

Be sure to spread the holiday spirit to friends, family and colleagues, too. A good panic is contagious. However you celebrate Panic Day, you’ll feel better for it. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/panic-day/

I try to take one everyday. I work second shift, and I don't sleep well at night, so my nap is the only real good sleep I get.

Do not nap and meatball simultaneously.

People have been injured attempting to do so....
