(yes you have) but, have you posted something you have really regretted? Let's stay away from the current sad state of affairs ... But (oh well), I've said words that made me wish late term abortions could be made retrospective ...
You?

(11,045 posts)We still had Meta back then. I quoted the sarcastic comment then said, OK, if anything goes, what do I have to post to get myself banned? MineralMan took pity and told me, in no uncertain terms, I was nuts! I snapped out of it. Otherwise I might have posted "Obama is a n*****g in GD".

(72,790 posts)But I really don't regret anything. It's only a discussion board; it's not something I take very seriously.

(26,602 posts)what happened to all the witty and insightful brilliance I remembered posting from the evening before. I guess the Admins are jealous of my PUI-induced eloquence, so they delete all my very best posts (it's the only explanation)...

(36,827 posts)I kinda enjoy reading some of the Friday and Saturday night GD postings. Beats having to go to a bar to be amused by the drunks.

(55,014 posts)of course I so rarely get to that state any more. getting old sucks.
I am sure I have posted in a good buzz state but I don't drink much. I do love a good cocktail and beer and wine, even shots if others are playing, but if that kind of partying is going on, I am not usually posting on DU at the same time.

(55,014 posts)much rather have a couple of tasty drinks or bottle of wine than slamming a pile of shitty cheap beers.
not to say I can't drink a shitty cheap beer on a hot day, (I am not THAT much of a snob) but under day to day circumstances I would rather just skip it.

(66,388 posts)I got a bottle of vodka and got plowed in my hotel room. It was on the 12th floor of the building. I got really sloppy-drunk and missing my wife, and casually let slip that I was thinking about jumping out the window. I wasn't, really. But alcohol can affect one's judgment, (or so I've heard), and I posted several increasingly incoherent threads.

(23,272 posts)Alcohol has a powerful tranquilizing effect on me.
That doesn't mean I haven't posted my fair share of stupid shit in the 30 minutes between drunk and asleep....
But nothing horribly hideous. I'm usually way too mellow for a stupid confrontation in that small window!

(10,418 posts)If you've seen a story post from me here, there's a good chance that I wrote it with some booze in me.
I'm laying off the beer for a while. I need to drop some weight, and that beer will throw it on you with a quickness if you drink it in the quantities that I've been known to.

(38,317 posts)I'm fairly transparent in all my mental states. Any facade would be too hard to maintain. I say what I think, or I say nothing. What I think is a constant, although the math gets a little difficult as I drink more.
My most regretful self is sober and off my meds. I'm like Doctor Who, a very dangerous fellow when I don't know what I'm doing... and most dangerous when I do.
My crazy grandma during World War II was a shipyard welder by day and a party girl in the evening. The only things she ever truly understood in this life were hot metal, horny sailors, dogs, and horses. But she was a keen observer of people too, keen enough to say the nastiest thing possible to anyone; castrating words, icepick through the heart or eyeball words, crippling and maiming words. She was also pretty handy with guns and knives which is why she had to be removed from her home as a danger to herself and others soon after she retired with a good pension and was no longer distracted by welding.
I know, and I've always known, I'm a quarter of my berserker grandmother, which is why I must be the peaceful sort. In my very most disordered states I taught myself to be invisible, or at least mostly harmless and affable.
