Building and Code Staff Appreciation Day Happy Building and Code Staff Appreciation Day! If this is your field, then chances are you don’t feel the love every day, so live it up! Celebrate with a department lunch (that way you know you’ll be surrounded by like-minded people) or perhaps wear a smiley badge on all inspections you conduct today. If you don’t work in Building and Code, then today’s an opportunity to show your appreciation to those often overlooked people who ensure your building safety. Consider sending a box of chocolates and a note of thanks to the company or individual who performed your inspection to show you value their work, or at the very least, don’t be grumpy with your inspector today.

Since the origin of Building & Code Staff Day is unclear, it may well be a cry for recognition from within the industry itself – all the more reason to show your support! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/building-and-code-staff-appreciation-day/

Calendar Adjustment Day Following the British Calendar Act of 1751, Britain adopted the Gregorian Calendar in 1752. However, the current Julian calendar system required them to drop eleven days in order to sync themselves with the proposed Gregorian Calendar. So, on the evening of 2nd September 1752, the population of Britain and its American colonies went to sleep and awoke the next morning to 14th September 1752.

The changeover is also responsible for New Year’s Day being celebrated on 1st January, as before then it had been celebrated on 26th March.

As a result of Calendar Adjustment Day, there was rioting on the streets by those who felt cheated, and demanded the eleven days back! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/calendar-adjustment-day/

Emma M. Nutt Day Emma N Nutt was the first professional female telephone operator, and worked in this role for 33 years. Emma M Nutt Day commemorates her, and the historically important role of telephone operators. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/emma-m-nutt-day/

National No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day September is filled with many reasons to celebrate and some of the celebrations have “no rhyme or reason”.

Actually, National No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day, which is observed annually on September 1, is celebrating words in the English language, which do not rhyme with any other words. These are words that poets try to avoid using at the end of a sentence.

For example, they are words such as: Orange or Month http://nationaldaycalendar.com/latest-posts/
