Somehow this worked out.
I'm going to go see my favorite opera ever, in the Vienna Volksoper, one of the greatest venues in the world.

(12,132 posts)Vienna is on my (fairly long) list of places to see before I die.
I love their little sausages. And fingers.
It seems like a flute day - I think I'll load that up on the playlist and surprise my co-workers with some class. (They are more accustomed to death metal and hillbilly music coming from my office. But Mozart is one of my favorites).
Have a great time at the show!

(63,221 posts)city ever! Our school was right on Operngasse and we would go and get the cheap standing room seats. We also went to the Philharmonic which was lovely as well. It was so elegant, even though we were going 3rd class as students. I hope you have a wonderful adventure. Please tell us all about it when you get back!

(31,409 posts)about 35 years ago and it is his favorite opera. We were in Vienna almost two years ago and did see an opera--but not The Magic Flute--at the Staatsoper. It is a magnificent theatre, but we didn't see anything at the Volksoper. Enjoy!

I took this photo of my husband in front of the Cottage when we were in Salzburg in 2013.
It's not readily accessible to anyone who wanders in the Mozarteum, which is a University devoted to
music and dramatic arts, and he went looking for someone who would point him in the direction to the grounds where
it was located. We literally wandered upstairs and down, through the cafeteria to outside looking for it. He was like
a kid in a candy store when he found it.
