AFL is a fantastic sport. I've been a Port Adelaide supporter for 50+ years.
He's almost certainly aware of the site, but the official AFL site in Australia is
http://www.afl.com.au/
It contains information related to Australian football and occasionally international AFL. In 2014, there was a sort of World Cup held in Australia with teams from the US, Canada, China, South Africa, Fiji, GB and others. It was called the International Cup because Australia wasn't allowed to enter it. The link is
http://www.afl.com.au/global/AFLIC14
The site also contains short summary videos of the games played. They are also (often) available on youtube, and youtube is faster.
The AFL is recruiting Americans who want to try their chance playing. Jason Holmes played the last three games of the season for St Kilda. I found this on the Geelong site.

So, let me wish this young man all the best in hi AFL career.
