My 2015 Mystery Squash

Some of you may remember last summer, when I had a mystery squash that looked like a godzilla plant with a giant, pale green soccer ball appear magically in my new blueberry bed. Which turned out to be a hubbard squash! Which I did my best to prep for storage and then forgot about it in the basement until March, by which time was too late.

Well, this year mid-summer a squash plant magically appeared out of nowhere on the edge of my compost heap. It grew 1 squash in time to harvest...the rest came too late to make it. This is what it looked like a few weeks ago when I brought it in, along with some taters and apples:

Tonight it's being made into squash soup. Here's how it looks right about now!

Hee!hee! Most fun I've had in a long, long time...
