It might get close again tonight. What made last night unique was the wind - I've had lows below zero before, but only on calm nights where there was strong radiational cooling. Winds normally stir up the air and keep it from cooling as much at the ground level because the warmer air can't rise and leave the coldest air at the ground.

That wind just penetrated any crack and created drafts all throughout my old house. It also had the furnace busting ass to keep up.
