How much room do we need? At what cost? Shipping containers have provided a rather inexpensive and heavy storm-proof metal structure, yet making them pleasing to the eye requres some great finishing touches. Here is one that has taken those touches in creative style!

They are only 8' wide, so they aren't very functional unless you cut out a lot. By comparison, the skinniest single wide mobile home is still going to be 12 to 14 feet wide. But you can put things like bathrooms, galley kitchens, closets and stairwells in the containers themselves and then put a roof over the space between 2 or more containers. By leaving the containers as intact as possible, they function as very strong exterior walls, kind of like giant I-beams.

But as a getaway, I think that would be perfect.
