My Prince story ....
Picture it. Bakersfield, CA 1981. Recently out young ronnykmarshall get a call from his best friend coming out partner Diane: Get dressed to dance we're going to a cool party. She shows up in her VW Bug and says: Hold on girl, were going to LA!!!
So we drove to LA which is 111 miles from Bako and we go this club The Odydessy which was an under 21 gay/lesbian club. So I'm walking around in a tank top shorts and sandals with my eyes bugging out of my head looking at all these hot guys. Suddenly there is this loud roar from the dance floor, HE (Prince) with a several beautiful ladies with him are making their way through the mass of people. He caught my eye and was looking RIGHT at me. I swear he was cruising me. As he got closer, he stepped right on my foot! I kind of jumped back and he realized what he did and said in that deep sexy voice, "Oh, I am so sorry. Are you ok?" I wish I would have said, "if you make out with me I'll be better" .. but I was so shocked I just said (in pain) ... "Yeah, I'm ok".
My BF said "oh my god, he has the same boots I have on"!

Ha! I spent many nights at the odyssey with my friends from OC 
great music and a nice eye opener for a straight kid coming out of a hyper religious church community That's cool that Prince came by if you were looking I was the skinny white kid with crimped hair that was dressed in Japanese designer clothing that made me look like an anemic goth lumberjack - I pretty much invented that look and killed it in the course of a few months
