7. Ahhh, Golden Retreivers.

The best dogs ever. Kind, gentle, patient, and loving. But if you want to play, they have plenty of energy to keep up, if you can keep up with them.


We had one that was about 8 at the time my wife brought home a stray kitty that showed up at the back door of the nursing home where she worked. She'd been hanging around for about a week before my wife decided to bring her home. She was curled up in a chair in our bedroom when Dusty (the Golden) came up and sniffed her. Kitty snarled and hissed dramatically. Whereupon Dusty gave her a quick series of about 4 or 5 full-body licks. That cat had the most "That wasn't how that was supposed to work" look on her face I've ever seen. Hilarious. They were quite good friends for the rest of Dusty's life.

I still get a tear when thinking about them, but laugh when I think of that incident.
