This is why Prince was so fricking awesome. Prince wasn't just this amazing Pop Star or Funk Master or R&B Crooner, he was an absolute genius at guitar and could rock with the best of them, maybe even better.
This was an all-star tribute to George Harrison which was lead by two of Harrison's former Wilbury's - Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. It's a nice rendition of 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps'. But what will totally blow you away is halfway through the song when Prince gets the spotlight and will everyone how to truly make a guitar weep. I think George Harrison was probably up in Heaven somewhere smiling while watching Prince play that solo.
Prince was comfortable playing any genre of music - he fit in perfectly.
I was sad when Michael Jackson died but I didn't really get that upset or cry any. Michael Jackson was talented but his music seemed 'Manufactured'. But Prince, I have been crying on and off since I've heard the news because of how fricking talented Prince was. He wasn't just that Pop Star but Prince was so amazingly talented. Prince could have easily been a replacement for Roy Orbison in the Traveling Wilbury's just as he could fit in with any pop group.

(21,046 posts)1. One of THE BEST videos on YouTube.
I say that as a codge rock fan who is definitely into the guys aged 60 or 70 or more.
Petula Clark is 83. Roger Daltrey is 72 and still touring on The Who's 50th Anniversary Tour at the moment.
Prince is really channeling Hendrix at the end of the video, and even falls off the stage.
As Al Sharpton said on MSNBC last night, "I worked with James Brown for 20 years. And I never saw anyone who could play like Hendrix and do a James Brown split AT THE SAME TIME. And that was Prince."
