Daredevil Renewed For Season 3 By Netflix

There's a ton of news coming out this week thanks to panels, interviews and more happening at San Diego Comic-Con, but elsewhere on the Internet, Netflix just dropped some huge news: Its flagship Marvel series Daredevil has been renewed for a third season. Go ahead and do a little happy dance.

Just a few minutes ago, Marvel revealed that Daredevil will be back for a third season. The hope after Season 2 went over well with fans was that Marvel would continue to bang out new episodes of the character in Hell's Kitchen, but with so many other Marvel series on the way, we didn't know when or even if that would be feasible. We still don't know when, in fact, as Marvel's big announcement simply states that Daredevil Season 3 is "coming soon." Soon like 2017? Or soon like way after all the other shows that have currently been announced actually get the chance to move forward? We'll let you know as soon as we know.

For now, we can tell you that it will likely be a while before new episodes are slated to happen. Netflix has Luke Cage on the schedule for September, and Iron Fist, Jessica Jones Season 2 and The Defenders are all projects that are going to happen after that. Then, there's the fact that Marvel and Netflix already signed on for a Punisher spinoff to consider. There's new Marvel TV content headed to Netflix for a long time to come and we're not sure if Daredevil Season 3 will be able to land a premiere space before or after these other projects are scheduled to be released.

Netflix has been really aggressive about pushing its development slate over the past year and Marvel, by all accounts, is one of the subscription streaming service's biggest performers. It makes sense that both companies would want to keep producing content for fans, although by all accounts there may be a cap to how many Marvel shows will end up resonating with fans before production slows down on these things. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen for a very, very long time.
