(3,601 posts)the Summer Olympics are being held in a place where it's winter? The Summer Olympics are in Rio de Janeiro. It's winter there, it is in the Southern Hemisphere.
Shall we hold the next Winter Olympics in Montevideo?

(37,748 posts)I think it's a matter of regional climate rather than longitude. Rio's low these days in the mid to low 60's, its high are in the low to mid eighties this time of year: pretty perfect weather for almost any summer sporting event.
