Bill Clinton's Oatmeal Cookies will be better than anything Melania bakes

For the First Spouse cookie bake off

http://www.familycircle.com/recipe/cookies/bill-clintons-oatmeal-cookies/

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter or margarine, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg

Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Spread oats and walnuts in ungreased 15-1/2 x 10-1/2 x 1-inch baking pan. Bake 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until toasted and light brown; cool.
In small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Beat together brown sugar, butter or margarine, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in oat mixture and then flour mixture.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on pans for 3 minutes; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

Maybe Melania will submit Pepperidge Farm Milanos or something

so I'd be interested in seeing his choice of produce or herbs.

And there is one plant that became legal to grow in the district of columbia last year.

He'll probably plan out some killer parties.

I also like that it used all brown sugar. Hmmm... I see cookies in my future.

as a direct response to Hillary's comment that she doesn't like to stay home and bake cookies. Some people couldn't handle it so they challenged her to submit recipes. During the 90's she even had a commercial line of "Hillary Rodham Clinton's President's Choice chocolate chip cookies" sold in stores.

On a related note, Princeton educated attorney Michelle Obama's cookies beat stay at home mom Ann Romney's in 2012.

Inquisitive people approach these types of challenges in different ways. I'll admit I didn't know how to use my oven until I got roped into a Christmas cookie exchange and I decided to research recipes and best practices online.
