Computer stuff - Help! Does anyone know someone who helps people at home with computer

situations? I need help setting up a very simple printer. For someone who knows what they're doing it wouldn't be a bid deal. I live in Redondo Beach, CA. The Geek Squad charges $200 (too much). I know I could google but I trust you guys at DU (my post count is so low because I've had two different names/email addresses. I've been with DU since the very, very beginning). Thanks to anyone who can help!

They are absolute geniuses at computers, and they probably do printers too.

Here's a link: http://allcitycomputers.co/

It says on their logo that they do printers. I've used them for several years, and I will never take my machines to anyone else. Fantastic people!

Good luck!

Do not connect the printer to the computer until you install the software.*

If the printer came with a CD with the software on it, put that into your drive and run it. Follow the directions.

If it did not come with a CD, go to the manufacturer's website, support section, find your printer and your operating system, download the drivers and/or software. Usually they will have instructions for how to install, copy those. Run the software.

When the software for the printer tells you to connect it to the computer, do so, then turn it on. Follow any directions that pop up.

Your printer should be installed.

*If you connected the printer to the computer first and your operating system attempted to install it, disconnect the printer, then reboot the computer before following the rest of the directions above.

If you still can't get it to work, respond with the make and model of your printer and the operating system of your computer and I will see what more I can help you with.
