Yep this is one of those threads where one elicits it's readers to dream and imagine what they would do with an endless amount of money.
But there's a catch...
You know what's more important than money? The simpler things in life.
So here's the thread question...
What simple and inexpensive thing would you do or have done for you, using an endless amount of money?
For example here's mine...
I would never wear the same pair of socks again. Every day, it would be a brand new pair.
So there you have it. No yachts, no mansions or flying cars...
What simpler things would you make happen with that kind of money?
EDITED TO ADD: I am saddened by how many people didn't read the catch to the question. Lol starting businesses and buying houses and paying off everything does not count as simple and inexpensive. Still though a lot of neat answers!

(36,461 posts)No more wasted time at traffic lights. No more dealing with rude drivers. It will be like my own personal RTD. It would be a great job for someone cuz I don't go out much. You'll have a lot of time off & if you like to hike, we'll be hitting the trails a few times a week. Any takers? Oh wait. Got to win the LOTTO first.

(36,461 posts)I couldn't wait to get my driver's license. Within a few short years I came to hate driving. When I moved to a town that had bus service I was in heaven! But man, I would love to have enough money to have a driver.
I have a client who has a thing for the old Checker cabs. He's got two - one is a wagon - so cool! They are all spiffed up - bright Taxi yellow, with the black & white checkerboard detail, & his company logo on the door. When he takes you out to lunch, people notice! It's so much fun! They aren't very comfortable, tho. LOL.

Jerry Lewis never wears the same pair twice. On an extensive promotional tour in the 1960s, according to a 1996 biography, he packed 192 pairs of white and black socks. He's said to change his socks four times a day.

(22,063 posts)We bought this little farm for peace and quiet, and to have our gardens and animals and little log cabin in the pines. I would like to buy the property/acreage on the other side of us where the owners have about a hundred screaming grandkids that live with them now, a son that sits in the driveway and guns the engine on his old junker truck for hours on end, and occasionally shoot off some big guns that makes everybody here jump in the air.
Oh--and I want a pond and a new pony. Sigh......

(34,136 posts)Because of a lifetime of shoveling shit and being abused by my horses, I can't do much work that involves bending over.
Until my husband retired we had a maid come once a month, mostly to clean the bathrooms and floors. My husband said he would do it and we could save the money, but guess what - that ain't happening. He has good reasons - in the last six months he nearly died of a burst appendix and the infection and his mother died. But the house is still not clean. So I want my maid back just so things get cleaned on a routine basis.
Right now I am trying to find someone to come in for a few hours a month to pull weeds. I have been trying to find someone since last November but so far haven't been able to.
If I were rich, I would have the same services done but more often. Maybe have someone full time to clean up the yard, mow the lawn, clean up branches all over the farm and mow the pastures, etc. Maybe a maid once a week - though we're not real messy so we don't need the house cleaned too often.

Take that, vegans.
Hire pros to run it all. I'm just going to hold court, like The Godfather or Rick Blaine without his pesky Nazi problem. It'll be the place where I'll help people solve their own problems.
I'll buy some trucks and hire some drivers to help feed the homeless, with volunteers fixing meals in my kitchens.

Other than that, I think would want to have one home in each of my favorite five places in the world, plus a cottage on a small lake in Canada, on top of my current home. I would pay someone to make sure they were all properly maintained. Then I would spend a part of the year in each place.

(3,702 posts)basics (buying a hobby farm so we can rescue more animals and pay off all our debts)
I would do a lot of what has been mentioned - charity, rescue, def massage and help cleaning
But then - along the lines of a money fairy - I would help people who need just one or two things fixed that are preventing them from getting ahead
For so many it is reliable transportation - so either pay for their car to get fixed or get rid of that hoopty for a reliable car
Pay off medical bills, credit cards so they can start debt free
Pay off any ridiculous fines or parking tickets that caused their license to be suspended
Money for tuition or taking exams for a better job (goodness moving to another state and finding out the cost to retake the bar exam and bar review classes prevented me from doing it)
Get rid of unlawful retainers on their rental history
New appliances like a washer/dryer so they don't have to drag themselves to the laundromat
Mobility devices - adapting a van for wheel chair users, guide dogs, home adaption
I mean so many people don't want a lot, they just want a chance but something like having your car breakdown and not having the money to fix it can turn into a disaster - like losing your job which sets off a snowball effect.
