Who can resist the deliciousness of a warm doughnut on just a normal day? Not us! And today isn't just a normal day, it's National Doughnut Day!
Did you know that while we celebrate this holiday annually on the first Friday in June, National Doughnut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor "the doughnut lassies" who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I? There are three other doughnut holidays celebrated in the US: International Jelly-Filled Doughnut Day is June 8 or 9; National Cream-Filled Doughnut Day is celebrated on September 14; and buy a Doughnut Day occurs on October 30. You learn something new every day!
