War for the Planet of the Apes. The "monster" definitely looks like the Creature. Also the back story sounds a lot like the plot of the original film.

"The natives in the Amazon worshiped it as a god".

I wonder how Universal feels about this. I don't know in the Creature is part of the dark universe cinematic reboot. Of course a generic amphibian man is an archetype today so they may have some difficulty in any sort of IP claim. They might want to get Harlan Ellison's lawyer's on it though. He did a great job extracting money and recognition from James Cameron/Orion for Terminator.

As Cameron said, “Harlan Ellison is a parasite who can kiss my ass.”

BTW, the original CFBL was filmed on location in Wakulla Springs, Florida, along with some of the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies! It's a wondering place to spend a day. Make sure to take the boat ride if you go.

I live on the opposite side of town now but it's still a great destination.

Last time I went the glass bottom boats weren't going out - too much rain and the water was murky. That would probably be true now. We've had a LOT of rain.

A number of years ago I met a man who played one of the "natives" in the Tarzan movies. He said he and his buddies had a great time playing the roles and it was the only way back then they were allowed to swim in the springs.

I love it when they remake the old monster movies from my childhood.

Universal released a box set of a bunch of the old classic monster movies. Being as I live in the middle of nowhere and have less-than-stellar Internet, I've been thinking about it. But when my wife finishes her latest round of college, we'll be moving anyway. And who knows? Maybe we'll move to a place where I could actually stream things!
