Turkey was a very secular place, a bit like Morocco is now. We were there at least 10 years ago and Turkey was very secular then but but I fear that the country has changed. Many interesting places to visit in Turkey, we loved the whole country. Cappadocia is a very large area with cave houses above ground. Look it up on Google. Sort of like Southern Utah.

We were told there were many underground cities and were often used to evade the enemy. Most homes had an entry to an underground living place where they could survive for months at a time (they had cisterns and stored food in the underground cities).
