Anyone know what this tool is?

A friend got it in a box of tools at a sale. It looks like some kind of crimping tool but after looking online for a couple of hours I've come up empty.

It looks old but I'm 62 and don't recognize it even though I've used many tools all my life. I've always worked on my own, and family's cars, house repairs etc.

I'm stumped.

Thanks.

I'm wondering too but haven't gotten a reply yet.

I haven't spoken to this friend in a while. It was sent out in an email. My brother and several others got the same thing.

Will keep looking and when he gets back to me, will post.

I'll see if I can get more pics.

The lever looks like it could be counter productive to some of the pivot points.

It does look like it "locks down" somehow but from this angle it almost looks backwards...sort of???

Definitely need more info.

Back in the day they made all sorts of tools for fixing car tires, this doesn't look like most of them but the curved male/female ends and the tools throat depth could be for a tire repair of some type.

I've been around lots of old tools from the early days of cars and this does look like some of the weird contraptions I've seen.

The clamp ends are too small for anything to do with wood construction/repair I'd think.

I can't get out and about but I will ask and see if I can get more pic angles.

I Googled the pic with metal crimpers of different descriptions but so far, zip.

Will post what I find out.

Or don't.

Crimping the end of a steel stove pipe allows for them to be stacked into each other's ends.

I think you've got it!

I'll do more inquiries and see about getting more pics but I think you nailed it.

Thank You.

I figured somebody here would help find out what it is.
