I can get a room for 150- 200, depending on area. Usually my daughter can work her magic and get a good discount off that. Just wondering what area would be the best to stay in.

You can walk/trolley/metro/cab from most places pretty easily. I've stayed in Union Square, Financial District, China Town and the Wharf. I lived in SOMA for a year and loved that area. San Fran can be quite expensive, so I say look for a good deal on a hotel and go from there!

It can get quite chilly even during the summer so don't forget a sweater or light jacket!

I have had hotel reservations at the number 1 hotel in town for a while. Just found out that Milo is doing the free speech thing there that week. Looking forward to Milo and Antifa fighting over waffles at the breakfast buffet.

I'm a native San Franciscan. If I was a tourist I'd stay at the Hyatt on Drumm St. . You can get the California street cable car which is not crowded. It is a great starting point. You can ride the underground muni up to Powell st and go to union square. You can take that cable car from Powell st to pier 39 and fishermans wharf. Or from this hotel you walk one block and get on an antique street car and ride to fisherman's wharf and pier 39. In the opposite direction you can ride to att park where the giants play again if you like to walk in one Mile in either direction.. It's flat and a nice walk with views. Chinatown is about 1/2 a mile away also.

Also you can take the street car to Castro st from there and return. It's just a good jumping off place not crowded or noisy like fisherman wharf or union square area. And the view from the hotel is spectacular. There is a square outside that has an artists market and The Ferry building with yummy foods and a farmers market Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday that have delicious food trucks.

Make sure to bring a middle weight coat. Though September and October are usually our good weather months. Not as foggy or cold as our summers. Enjoy!.

the place for me, if the hotel price is right. I usually select the areas and hotel options and she books them because she can get fantastic deals through her job.

Duers have never failed me yet.

You are then in a great area near Crissy Field and the Presidio and going down to the water and you can take buses to almost everywhere.

Safe good area and you will save some coin in what is a very expensive city.

You can ride all over the city -- buses, trolleys, streetcars, etc. I personally avoid the Wharf -- can't stand the tourists -- and there are some hotels in more residential neighborhoods that are wonderful and off the beaten track.

I looked at Bart and thought they were a bit confusing. Muni looks easier, plus I can get a multi day pass for unlimited rides.
