1) What's a Caver?

2) How do I join this group?

3) Okay, three things. Is this the kind of group that promotes open honest debate, or is it the kind of group that can only heap lavish praise on itself and fanboy idols?

to the top. It probably wouldn't hurt to read it and then post away.

And yep, we will disagree. Just don't get nasty about it.

We are a group of socialists, anarchists, communists. We discuss issues from a leftist perspective. We're not here to convince you that socialism is "the way" - we already know capitalism is a horrible economic system and we have lots of ideas about what would be better (so we are not going to argue capitalism vs. socialism - that will get someone ejected quickly). We do welcome democratic socialists because we tend to have many points in common. Here is our welcome paragraph - please just ask if you have any questions --

Welcome Comrades!

Welcome to the Socialist Progressives Group. Posts in this group should generally be supportive of socialism and socialists. We are largely anti-capitalist and will not tolerate red-baiting. We welcome leftists of all persuasion as allowed per the admin's TOS. Democratic (ballot box) socialism, revolutionary socialism, Syndicalists and autonomists are all ok. Pure black flag (as opposed to red/black) anarchists who would rather organize with any anarchist than socialists, including anarcho-capitalists and libertarians, will not be welcome. If you don't know what kind of anarchist you are, cool, so long as you don't hijack and red-bait. This includes no "you're a dictator-lover" if you support the Russian Revolution. CPUSA members, please chime in.

Social Democrats are welcome with the explanation that if someone believes in "regulated" capitalism and social programs, they're a Keynesian, not a socialist. We welcome your questions as long as you're pleasant and don't red bait or shift the discussion away from socialism. You'll find many of us support Obama and his re-election given our two-party system, but this is not the forum to talk about the intricacies of elections - see Politics 2012 for those conversations. We are more concerned with safe-guarding the working class gains we've made in this country thus far and encouraging the peaceful transition to socialism. Please no Trotsky or Stalin baiting, we've all seen it fracture groups and do not want to fight that battle again.

Number 1): This gives credence to the old V.I. Lenin aphorism about capitalists selling you the rope you use to hang them. When profit is king, even ideology takes a back seat. Most of the time anyway. Plus, I THINK that this was during the time of the Hitler/Stalin "non-aggression" pact, so even a fascist like old man Koch could "work with" Stalin as long as he made money doing it.

Number 2): This also just shows how long the owners have been trying to get rid of the reforms of capitalism instituted by the FDR wave during the last big crisis of capitalism in the 30s. BTW, that wave was fueled by the militant anti-capitalism of communists and socialists and unionists. The 30s threatened the entire system and the only thing that staved off revolution that would have brought the whole thing down, were those reforms. But as I've often said, the owners began to undermine the reforms from the day they were instituted and Fred Koch was one of the leading underminers. (Is that a word?

In this context, you took the term "undermine" to a well deserved level

Fred Koch was one of the leading underminers. (Is that a word? )
