Chanson Des Roses is lovely, I sang Dirait On in college along with O Magnum Mysterium. His Lux Aeterna is amazing.

How nice that you performed these.

Have to admit, some choral productions bother me. I believe it has to do with the composer/composition?

There are some works that are delicate and if the conductor either doesn't have the talent or isn't personally capable of managing the piece, the end product can be... unfortunate. Some contrapuntal works fall into this category. There are some 20th century pieces that can also fall into this trap. I sang Rejoice In the Lamb by Britten in College as well and it was a pretty lousy performance. Its a beautiful work but the pacing and dynamics have to be just right. We had lovely soloists but the choral work was shotty. The conductor just wasn't skilled enough to bring it all together.

I studied strictly ballet 'way back' in the day (!) and the choreography, the dancers, orchestral quality in professional stage production have to come together. All those moving parts! Esp. when dévotees pay good $$ to attend. They want to get gigantic goosebumps while floating to the ceiling!

I heard some vocal/orchestral video on YouTube the other nite and my ears started ringing!
