Amazing scene of the famous dance duo and chorus performing to the music of Cole Porter. From the movie, 'You'll Never Get Rich' 1941.🎵

(41,145 posts)in the 20th century, dancing in pairs, as couples seemed standard - at special occasions, fairs, dance halls and later clubs it seems to me. At theaters and halls there were performance dancers in groups on stage, like the Can- Can.
Then the growth of popular music dance bands, orchestras, radio broadcasts and movies, esp. in the 1920s through the Golden Age of Hollywood really helped promote dancing, chorus lines and specific musical films.
My parents, and their parents went to dances esp. when young, it was a special thing. In my generation, forget it. Sit around in jeans and listen to rock and soul, a very different experience but in a great period of music all the same.
There was the Charleston, the Lindy Hop, jitterbug, jazz, swing, the twist, and disco which I like but plenty hate. Long reply, but what comes to mind.
ETA: There were more great men dancers years ago, professional too which is another difference.

Another well known actress, maybe Angie Dickenson also had that unfortunate disorder early on, in her 50s. Not sure.
