Friday Night Catnip: Blue Cheer -- Peace of Mind

[div style="width:100%;"]
Reform! When do we need it? Niaou!

Hello everyone! I'm in the remaining hours of being a 47-year-old, so it's time to break out the catnip to celebrate the couple of hours still remaining.

Tonight's 60s psychedelic music is a seven minute video from the group Blue Cheer entitled "Peace of Mind."

Blue Cheer was an American rock band that initially performed and recorded in the late 1960s and early 1970s and was sporadically active until 2009. Based in San Francisco, Blue Cheer played in a psychedelic blues-rock style, and is also credited as being pioneers of heavy metal (their cover of "Summertime Blues" is sometimes cited as the first in the genre), punk rock, stoner rock, doom metal, and experimental rock. According to Tim Hills in his book, The Many Lives of the Crystal Ballroom,[8] "Blue Cheer was the epitome of San Francisco psychedelia." Jim Morrison of The Doors called the group "The single most powerful band I've ever seen."

The band is said to have been named after a street brand of LSD and promoted by renowned LSD chemist and former Grateful Dead patron, Owsley Stanley.

Although your kitteh may not approve, I encourage you to dim the lights, plug in the lava lamp, put on headphones, load a bowl and enjoy the liquid light show. There is plenty more catnip in the Music Appreciation group if you need it.

Please check out some of the other catnip items that I posted in Music Appreciation. I've always loved the psychedelic sounds of the 60s and early 70s. I tend to enjoy the unusual from quirky time signatures, unusual instruments (I love the Hammond organs) and dissonance so you might find a few other things that you will also enjoy.

I am also honored that you made your first post on my thread. Please click on my username to check out my profile.

Welcome to DU, ask me anything, and I hope that you have a great time here enjoying the news, the politics and the goofiness.
