One of the many outstanding LA mid/late bands. The singer Arthur Lee wrote it. Lee was a black man and Hendrix was impressed by him, not just his work but it gave him hope that a black man could make it in rock.

My favorite on it was Orange Skies named after the beloved orange sunshine no doubt, I do realize now it sounds a little bubblegum. Lee was also quoted as saying he met Hendricks in a recording studio where someone was recording one of his songs, and said it was the first time Hendrix was in a recording studio which wasn't true because he'd already recorded with the Isley Brothers, so don't believe everything you read, especially because there was Chuck Berry and Little Richard and more
