Well...I finally did it. (Warning: YouTube video heavy post.)
So yeah, I finally did it. I went back and listened to the Peter Green era of Fleetwood Mac.
Every time the subject of Fleetwood Mac would come up, it'd go something like this.
Iggo: "I hate Fleetwood the fuck Mac!"
SumDumDummie: "That's cuz you never listened to their old stuff! Peter Green man. Aw, Peter Green!"
Well, with news of the death of Danny Kirwan, I did what I always do in the age of YouTube. I went and paid my respects to a fellow musician the best way I know how, and that's to sit and listen for a couple of hours and find out (or remember) why they were such a big deal.
Well, good god damn. SumDumDummie was right all along. What I got was a heavy dose of a band that I should have been listening to all along, an introduction to a band that plays the kind of guitar music that I love to play and listen to, and an understanding of why that monstrosity of easy listening from the late seventies should have been called anything else but Fleetwood Mac.
Sorry I'm late to the party.
For an understanding of how my day went, I heard all of these for the first time today:
Like I said, I'm late to the party. But I know you're jealous that I get to discover something so wonderful all at once.
Anyway, I'm goin' back in...
