does sound an awful lot like Dean Martin. I don't know if English was Don Ho's first language or if he picked it up when he got older. He might have just heard others put that variation in their songs and decided to imitate i doubt he was just being a smart ass.

the few Hawaiians I spoke with, didn't have that word pronunciation.

I've just always thought that Don Ho and this song were kind of comical. I thought it would give everyone a little chuckle this morning. Americans will watch just about anything.

I recall my mom, Lawrence Welk on every Saturday night. I guess, for many people, it was a way of "experiencing" the evenings out that they couldn't afford during the Depression or when fathers got home from war.
