I was born on January 1st, 1955.
The GREATEST YEAR for POP MUSIC was 1968 (when I was 13yo - do the math).
This "Top 30 Songs of 1968" YouTube video proves it.
There has been no other year like it, IMO.

(17,862 posts)away from the Beatles.
Same year Jimi Hendrix stole All Along the Watchtower from Dylan.
Within two years we lost Brian, Janis, Jimi, and Jim.

(5,312 posts)Considering I worked on (with George DiCaprio) a Dr. Timothy Leary "underground" comic book published in 1978, I may be older than you think.
Also, I knew Dewey Martin (drummer, Buffalo Springfield) and he sold to me his original Oak Lawn Badge Camco drum kit which he used to record his drums on "For What It's Worth."

(5,312 posts)...Dewey Martin (Buffalo Springfield drummer) used the "drum kit" I have owned since 1978 when he recorded everything he did with Buffalo Springfield a decade before.
I acquired those drums from Dewey in 1978.
There is a long, involved story of how the first band I was in had Dewey as the drummer.
The band was called Scott Thomas Lowe & Atascadero.
Here is a flyer we made for the band, counting from L-R, I am #1, #6 is Dewey, looking goofy.
