I have to listen to this one every June 30th:



Man, they don't write 'em like this any more! Although I'm not a big Goldsboro fan, this song, with its haunting coming-of-age lyrics, just knocks me over, and the music fits the lyrics perfectly. It never got the recognition or the airplay it deserved, b/c there were too many prudes in the audience in 1974--kinda like today.

Kinda a reverse Matt Gaetz but with out the pervyness he brings to everything.

It really didn't get a lot of airplay. The AM stations that played that kind of music were wary that it would be controversial.

I was 17 when it came out, so I suppose it struck a bit of a nerve with me.
