(6,713 posts)He complained about the audience liking this song so much. It's probably gotten more radio air time than anything else he has recorded except "If You Could Read My Mind". A segment of the audience bought tickets to hear a live version of a 7+ minute song. His voice was weak but his band was tight and they played for almost 2 hours. I loved his music in college and wasn't surprised to learn his album/song "Sundown" was written about his ex-girlfriend who supposedly shot up John Belushi with the Frisco Speedball that killed him.

It's just lends a grandness to the song.

(1,331 posts)A student at Michigan Tech (go Huskies!), in the western upper peninsula. That was the worst weather day Ive ever experienced in Michigan. It was nearly impossible to walk outside, the wind was so strong.
We heard the news that a ship was missing and presumably lost, and wondered why they had sailed in such a storm. Lots of freighters were sheltering in the inland waterway. (Look at a map to find it.)
So this song brings back many memories

(2 posts)Three of us went out to the lake shore, which was basically composed of "stamp sand" (essentially mine tailings). The wind was so strong it was whipping those little rocks around like they were BBs or something similar...
