For the most part animals are better than people so that's the worst line of the song for me. Pity that you pick that out to get giddy about

The Golden Rule applies to people getting treated with respect and kindness. Animals deserve it, too.

Les McCann is talking about how the nation treats their dogs better than its minorities and the poor.

I agree with him.
