The Tubes - White Punks on Dope (Live in 1975 & 1982) This is live Tubes so of course it's NSFW

White Punks on Dope is a parody of rock stars and the rock music scene of the late 60s and 70s. Singer Fee Waybill's character Quay Lewd, wearing the ridiculous platform-boot stilts, is a composite of rock stars of the period and a jab at their privilege, excesses, and taking themselves way too seriously. For the Grateful Dead fans who might view this, that's the late Vince Welnick, a Tubes founding member, featured prominently playing piano in the 1982 video.

Winterland, San Francisco, New Year's Eve 1975

I don't know what the venue was, but it's from their !982 tour.

So surprised when a clip of theirs was posted a little bit ago, thought they were a deep Bay Area secret. I liked them so much I had "Talk to You Later" as my ring tone for many years! So fun!
