Was in my penultimate band. I had an Oberheim OB-8, and this was originally played on an OBX-A.
The OB-8 had a slightly more precise sound which I preferred, but others preferred the X-A sound.
The 8 had a whole second page of patch controls so there were sounds I could get on it one could not get on the X-A. I also thought the hard sync (think Let's Go, hy The Cars) was bigger sounding on the 8.
But, the average listener would have heard us do this song and heard exactly what they heard on the record.
