I Need Never Get Old.
I have friends and acquaintances who swear good music stopped being made the day they graduated high school. They only listen to classic rock stations that feed them a loop of songs that is to music what meatloaf is to comfort food. It's old, it's boringly predictable, and it gives nostalgic warmth.
Much good music
has stuck with us through the decades, but how many albums did we buy for one lousy song? (Looking at you, Lemon Pipers). For every Led Zeppelin there were 10 Zager & Evans signed to the labels. "My Ding-A-ling" by Chuck Berry was his
only certified classic that hit #1 in 1972. Now
there's a gem for the good old days.
I believe there is still much good music being made in 2023, because gone are the days when a band had to impress an A&R guy from a record label. Now anyone can make an album in their basement, for better or worse. But just like in the old days, if one sifts their way through the garbage, modern treasures are to be found during what may be the new Golden Age of Music.
Don't stop listening for new music.
We Need Never get old.
