(1,109 posts)Lookout bird perched atop a lone pole-like tree watching intently as an alien craft enmeshed in morning fog attempts an abduction. Quick-thinking G McG hiding in the attic of his house behind an old wooden fence activates a hill-top transmitter to power-up water sprinklers thus fending off the aliens and saving his Deere.

(9,795 posts)Mother nature makes such varied works of art with the same scene.
One never knows what to expect and she keeps us photographers on our toes, cameras at the ready.
A wonderful way to experience life. Too bad that so many don't look up and look around.

(12,904 posts)George post lots of cool photos here. Some of them are of his equine friends, and sometimes they wear masks, like superheroes!
I always check the photo posts.

(9,795 posts)I've been busy chasing sunrises and sunsets lately, and barely have time to sort out the photos before hitting the rack.
I've posted a few photos already, and will share some of the photos as they catch my eye.
I joined DU mainly to help keep this Democracy thing alive and I'm putting in a plug for my GOTV and Ukraine Relief pages:

(12,904 posts)On accounta Im nosy.
What is the really green stuff growing there in the center of the picture?
Also, this is a really cool photograph. Do you keep your camera handy at all times?
George McGovern
(5,420 posts)I got a little carried away and made it look greener than is actually was.
Here's the original image from the camera. Yes, I do keep two cameras handy. One with a wide-angle zoom, the other with a telephoto zoom. Thank You for your comments I'm glad you're nosy!

(12,904 posts)Is it your grass hay field? Will your superhero equine friends consume that hay?
My husband and I took a road trip from western Missouri to Seattle last September. Being from Missouri, we see lots of corn, soybean, and wheat fields. I grew up in one of the largest rice producing areas of the country. My pawpaw grew cotton.
We are used to hay fields, but seeing the alfalfa, hay, Timothy and other grassy crops was very interesting. Also, very beautiful growing on the hillsides. Thanks for sharing.
George McGovern
(5,420 posts)Yes. All the grass in fields out here becomes hay once summer gets arrives. Our place is not big enough to grow, cut and store the hay, so we let the grass grow and the horsies eat it up. The best bonus of this time of year is since the grass is coming up the horses spend less time in their stalls and do their pooping out in their pastures. Which means much easier barn chores for us!
I've never been to Missouri. Perhaps someday . . .

(14,573 posts)From the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock:
The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes
Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening,
Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,
Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys,
Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,
And seeing that it was a soft October night,
Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.
And indeed there will be time
For the yellow smoke that slides along the street,
Rubbing its back upon the window-panes;
There will be time, there will be time
To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet;
There will be time to murder and create,
And time for all the works and days of hands
That lift and drop a question on your plate;
Time for you and time for me,
And time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions,
Before the taking of a toast and tea.
Just like your fog, caressing the hill, gently enveloping the landscape.
