Now I have to wait 2 1/2 hours for the battery to charge before installing firmware updates so I can work thru the menu and THEN start playing with it

You're still ahead of the game, though I'm sure it's frustrating having to wait while the battery charges.
I know you will enjoy your beautiful new camera, and I cannot wait to see what great photos you will get!

(36,281 posts)Congratulations! My first camera was an analog OM1, almost 45 years ago. It was a gift from a relative who drove an airport shuttle, and it was left behind by a fare and never claimed. I literally wore that camera out. Gawd I loved it!

(14,559 posts)of the camera body. Because Olympus Corp sold the imaging division which became OM Digital Solutions marketed as OM Systems this is the last camera with Olympus as the name on the body and it's an OM1, the camera that started this whole journey both for me and the camera line. Forward all cameras will be OM Systems.
Yeah, it's absolutely insane brand loyalty but I have a history with it going back to the '70s.
That said it has some crazy AI features and it's still half the size of the competition and at 75 that's a feature I can use!
