Egret in infrared

I found this from my last trip to the coast. It was taken with my camera converted to IR. 730nm as I recall which brings in some color and allows experimentation with channel swapping of colors. This is basically straight except for contrast and some noise cleanup.

I find it sort of interesting in an odd way.

1. Well, this sure is very different from any of your other photos.

The egret is all twisted up. I can't see the legs at all. I recognize the hungry babies!

I'd say it's very interesting. Yes, in an odd sort of way.

Not what I'd expected for an IR photo.

Don't get me wrong, though. I do like it. I just wish I understood it better!

5. I think its legs are those long black sticks heading down into the nest parallel to each other...

Beautiful birds, interesting pose — I just expect them to be white, you know?

9. I think you're right about the legs, my dear Hekate. What you said makes sense.

I too expect them to be white!

It's a beautiful shot.

8. I find this quite interesting, Andy. Pit vipers use visual and infrared senses to target prey

They don't "see" IR but use it to "sense" heat.
