yes, they are falcon family birds, though they aren't adept predators.....they're mainly scavengers.

my blind is at ground level. in the first few shots, the bird is on a stump a few meters away, the mating birds were on a palm frond of a palm tree in front of and down hill from the blind and the palm frond hangs down from the palm to about eye level with me, or just a tiny bit higher.
