Related: About this forumJust purchased Adobe Light room...
The student edition of version 4. Now that I'm back from Hawaii with a bunch of shot to process I thought it best to get a proper RAW developing platform. I've been using Rawtherapee and asked a few weeks back what other suggested. Rawtherapee is good for freeware but I thought since I want to get more serious about my photography I should get something a little more professional that outputs better quality. Anyone have experience with light room? Any caveats I should know about?

(4,741 posts)The companies roll out a new image processor every couple of generations, promoting it like it's a little Ansel Adams in your camera (eg Nikon EXPEED 3, Canon Digic 6, Fuji EXR, etc) - and they roll all the new algorithms into their RAW development software, so by using it you're getting the advantages of the latest image processing as developed by the actual manufacturer. I shoot Nikon so I use Capture NX for the absolute best results, depending on what you shoot you'll need to go to their website and poke around. Realistically it's an almost invisible difference so most of the time I just use Adobe since I'm going into Photoshop anyway, but sometimes I want that extra bit of quality.
