Does anyone know of this iconic photographer? He came to light not that long ago as one of the best photographers of the 50s era on the west coast here in Vancouver. I'll have to read his background story since I don't know that much. All I know is that he was an immigrant taking photos here in Vancouver during the 50s and that he was only recently discovered. His photos are STUNNING to my eye and offer endless inspiration and motivation to continue shooting. I was bought his coffee table book this past Christmas and it's wonderful to look at. Here's a showing of his work. It's too bad the shots are so small here. Make sure the brows at least a few pages:

(4,483 posts)I saw his work in Vancover a while ago and it follows a similar style and timeline as another forgotten photographer Saul Leiter both of whom predate Eggleston, who got most of the hype for bringing color to art photography.

(6,154 posts)I really should study up on the history and people of photography as I know next to nothing. I Googled Leiter and your right I can see the similarities, also amazing work!

(4,483 posts)That you brought up Herzog because it was him, Leiter and Eggleston that influenced my vote in the latest contest.
